Meet Dimian McNeal-Hanson, B.S., M.S.T.

"Your business is very important to you, but it should be just as important to your bookkeeper or accountant."

Dimian McNeal-Hanson

Here is the part where I am supposed to tell you the "boring" details of who I am.  Let’s face it, we all want to know more than "just the boring stuff".  So instead of just listing dry facts here, I want to tell you who I really am as a whole person, and how I can help you and your business.  So, here we go.

So, where did it all begin?

Hello! My name is Dimian and I was born and raised in southern California. I grew up in the South Bay and then moved about 80 miles north to the high-desert area known as the Antelope Valley after graduating high school.  I was married in 1996 and moved back and forth between the two areas until 2021 when my husband and I along with our two cats, Molly and Marley, decided to ditch California and move to Georgia to be closer to my family.  It has been quite a shock to the system seeing all the beautiful green trees and experiencing rain on an almost daily basis. It has been a real treat to meet new, wonderful people and experience the “Southern Hospitality” that everyone here seems to ooze from their pores.

How do I spend my free time?

When I am not working with my clients, I have a couple of hobbies that keep me busy.  First, I am an avid and voracious reader which I am sure my school teachers would be surprised to hear!  While in school I couldn’t be bothered to read any book assigned to me with only the rarest of exceptions.  I got a little better during my undergrad studies but still struggled.  After I finished my master’s degree, I picked up a book to read for pleasure and it just clicked - and have kept a book in my hands since.  My second hobby is quilting.  For those who quilt, I consider myself a "piecer" because I enjoy the process of making the quilt top.  I love fabric and quilting allows me to indulge with less guilt. I always have a project on the burner and (at least) one in the queue.  I also cross stitch and enjoy scrapbooking.

"I am a firm believer that every business owner should know and understand their financial records." Dimian McNeal-Hanson

What professional experience do I have?

As work experience goes, I started working with numbers when a kind manager showed me the ropes on how to do the daily paperwork when I worked at House of Fabrics (first, I was young and second, yes, I am that old!). We did the books using paper with carbon copies and a good old adding machine.  I was hooked.  After I received my bachelor's degree in Accounting, I worked at a CPA's office for roughly 5 years.  My duties were to provide bookkeeping for various retail businesses, a county services provider, a gas station, restaurants, a heavy equipment rental company, and an auto shop.  After the CPA’s office I worked for over 11 years at a heavy equipment rental company as their Full Charge Accountant.  I handled it all from A/P to A/R, from invoicing to inventory, and worked very closely with the president of the company.

What about my education?

In 2004, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting from The College of Business Administration & Public Policy at California State University, Dominguez Hills.  In May 2021, I earned a Master of Science degree in Taxation from the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge

Do I have any certifications?

In 2022, I became a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor and earned my Bookkeepers Launch Certificate of Completion.

Why should you trust me with your financial records?

Your business is very important to you, but it should be just as important to your bookkeeper or accountant.  And I truly do care! I want you to succeed. I want all small businesses to succeed. During the course of my career I found that most small business owners fall into one of two categories:

  • The first category is small business owners who can do the books but don’t want to.  I get it.  You love what you do, that is why you do it. You also know that when you are working on your books, you can’t be out there in the world making money. That is an easy fix.  Get someone else to do it! That's me, I can do it! I have experience with many different industries and I am continually learning. Let me take that burden off of your shoulders so that you can do what you do best and make money!

  • The second category is small business owners who struggle with bookkeeping and who may not fully understand the process. That is totally OK! Many people don’t know where to even start when it comes to getting their financial records organized and they just don’t think it is important.  I am a firm believer that every business owner should know and understand their financial records.  Let me take the lead on your financial records so that I can explain them in easy to understand terms so you no longer have to worry about it.

Let's set up an appointment today so I can lend you a helpful hand!

Don’t know how to get going? I can help.  Don’t know where your income is going? I can help.  Don’t know why you must pay taxes when your bank account is depressingly low? I can help.  If you can’t seem to get started or just dread the thought of setting up your books, I can help.  Schedule a free consultation either virtually via Zoom, over the telephone, or in-person so we can discuss how I can help you cut through the stress and calm the chaos in your bookkeeping.

Sincerely,

Dimian McNeal-Hanson
